A weekend in Brussels

Two weeks ago, Eric and I went to Brussels (our capital) for the weekend. We could book cheap train tickets so we decided to take the train instead of the car. So, no parking problems for us and the hotel was a 5 min. walk from the railway station.
Enjoy the load of pics beneath.

Getagd

Hoi iedereen,

Mijn middelste naam is Machteld. Miljaar, dat zijn veel letters. Hier gaan we dan.
- M: Malediven.
- A: Antwerpen.
- H: Home and Away.
- L: Lichi's.

Renovate, renovate ...

The storm didn't cause any damage to our building. Lucky us!! Oh well, the storm wasn't as bad as they said it would be.
I took some new pics this weekend. You can see that the walls downstairs are finished now. I don't know what they will do today and later this week. I think they will start with the roof soon because next week, the electricians will come.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving lovely comments.

Update on the renovations

Some new pics about our renovations. They started building the walls already.
A storm will pass through our country this evening and night so I hope there will be no damages at our building.

Playing cards and some new layouts

Thursday evening, my friend Isabel and her boyfriend came over to our house to play cards. They arrived at 7.30 pm and left at 2.30 am. Can you believe that? We had a wonderful time but unfortunatly the girls lost with 1-4. Oh well, it doesn't matter because we had lots of fun. We had lots of beers too, haha.

This is the front page of my Turkey album. It's now finally finished. I didn't remove the pages from their page covers so you can see the pic looks a bit blurry. At least you have an idea of the page.

The last hours in our hotel. We've spend them at the swimming pool before the bus drove us to the airport.

Scrapbook Challenge

I decided to join a challenge to create 100 layouts using old stash. That means I can't use any new goodies that I bought since I decided to start the challenge. I started this weekend and I've already made 5 pages. You can see how many I've made on the right side of my blog. There you can find a ticker.

My creations are on top of this entry.
The first 3 pages are from our vacation in Turkey. The 4th one is about me being curious. The picture shows how curious I was as a kid (and I still am). The last one is about how I love taking a hot bath and read a book while I'm relaxing.

Like a hurricane came by

The big renovation works has started last week. All the walls and rooms are down. The front and some things on the first floor are still there.
Next week they will start with removing the floor, new pipes in the floor cover them. I don't know what else is planned. Eric knows better than me :-)

This evening, we'll go to a basketball match. Some of our friends play basket so we'll go over there to see them. I really hope they win as they are on top after half of the season.

Enjoy some pics of the renovations.

Review

Another week has gone by. Time flies so fast. Nothing special happened here so I'll post some pics as a review.
On Saturday night we watched the movie 'The Exorcists' on TV. OMG, I was so scared that I only watched the first 15 minutes.

Friday was the day I removed my Christmas tree and decoration. It's all in boxes and ready for next Christmas. The house looks a bit empty now :-(

On Wednesday we went to Brugge, shopping for clothes. I found a really nice dress for only 29 euro. I' m so happy with it. Shopping makes me tired so we went for a drink at Joey's Café. I always go there when I'm in Brugge. I'm drinking a Leffe, yummie!!

Maybe we'll go to Ikea this afternoon. I need some things to store my scrapbooking stuff. I hope the weather will be better in an hour as now it's so windy and it rains.

Last hours in our pub

As some of you may already know, my boyfriend owns a pub. On January 5th we opened it for the last time. It will be closed for 10 weeks as we are having renovations. The whole pub will be new and we will renovate the flat above too. If everything goes like we want, we will open the pub again on March 20th and we will move to our new flat in July.

On the last days, we told our friends to write on the walls of the pub. It's so much fun to read all the messages and pics they drew.

Eric will be at home for those 10 weeks and it's so strange to have someone at home in the evenings. I'm not used to it but I enjoy it heaps!!!

A few hours left ....

Hi girls,

2007 is almost gone. Only 7 hours left and 2008 will start. Can't believe how time flies. It's like there are only a few months gone since it was January 2007. It was a good year for me but I hope 2008 will even be better. I don't have big wishes for the new year but here are a few things:

- I hope to move into our new home by July 2008

- I hope to spend many romantic hours with my bf

- I hope to scrap a lot escpecially with my fantastic 2 scrapping friends Kelly and Daphné.

- I hope to continue my new friendships made this year (Yeah, Kelly, you're one of them)

- I hope to try many new receipes.

- I hope that my family, friends and I will stay healthy.

And above all, I hope you all continue visiting my blog. Thanks for commenting the past year. You are wonderful.

Day 8 - I see ....

We had to scrap about the signs of Christmas in your home and outside. I finished the part about my home but I still need to do the 'outside' part. Didn't have time to order some photos yet. Guess I'll wait till after Christmas.
On the page you can see some of my Christmas decorations in the house.

Day 6 - Good and bad christmas

This time we had to talk about good and bad Christmas memories. My best ones are those of my childhood. On Christmas we went to my aunt and ate a yummie dinner. We got lovely presents and in the afternoon we watched a Christmas movie. A nice, relaxing family day. On the picture you can see myself and my grandmother.
My 'bad' memory is the fact that my boyfriend always have to work on Christmas Eve till 7 pm (most of the time it's later). That's why we only celebrate Christmas Eve together.
Thanks for visiting my blog and let me know what you think about it.

Day 5 - Counting

We don't have the tradition of Advent Calendars here in our family. I remember that 1 year (when we were still kids) my sis and I got one of those calendars. We had to open a little door every day and then we found a little chocolate. Yummie!!! I wonder if they still sell those calendars.

Day 4 - My perfect Christmas

I wrote about my perfect Christmas Eve (dec. 24). We don't celebrate that day with the family as my boyfriend has to work till 7 pm. All we want to do when he gets home is relax. We celebrate with family on Christmas Day. This is what I want on a Christmas Eve:
- my sweetheart
- romantic movies
- candle lights
- beautiful christmas decoration and tree
- yummie food
- white wine
- PJ's
- ...

Day 3: Christmas cards

The 3rd prompt was to talk about Christmas cards. I cutted squares out of Christmas cards I received last year. The big card was made by my sister. The journaling is hidden behind that card.
Thanks for visiting my blog!

Journaling your Christmas - Day 1 and 2

Day 2: Weather
We were supposed to write about the weather in December. How is it like in your country? How should the weather be on Christmas? What do you do when it's cold? And so on. Many things to write about. I choose to write about how much I want to have a white Christmas. I want to walk around wearing warm scarfs and hat. Then I want to curl up in the sofa wearing my pj's and drinking some hot chocolate. Unfortunatly the weather in Belgium isn't like that at all. We mostly have rain on Christmas instead of beautiful white snow.

Day 1:
We had to tell about the reason why we start this journal. What are the motivations?
I have always loved christmas. This part of the year makes me wanna be at home the whole time. I love decorating the tree and the house. In the evening, I lighten up the tree and make it myself comfortable. I can imagine myself as a grandmother, showing her grandchildren this little Christmas Journal.

Thanks for reading about my journal. Love to read you comments so don't hesitate to leave a comment.
Love, Isolde
